Looking for style in all the wrong places usually brings you back to basics. Finally I broke my still life hoodoo and found something that I had forgotten that I already had.. Composition.
This campaign was a major team effort. As soon as Conde Nast briefed me on this project, I knew that I needed George! George Xenos is a fantastic set designer and has helped me on many shoots. George brings a special flare and technical wizardry. His background in theatre means he finds the most effective way to make anything that the project requires. Bravo Mr. Xenos! Retouching by Q Studios. Tear sheets from June 2011 Vanity Fair.
I love this collaboration with Franco at Cutler and Miss Bibiano at JC's. They made a great team and pulled together a great hair story and video. Also thanks to the Noho guys for buying more toys for us to experiment with. We are working hard on the video productions and will post some of those short films soon.
Surprisingly grey day in NYC considering the world news. I thought it best to brighten up the day with some new color power. Great makeup by Miss Bibiano and of course the retouching love machine Mr. Gerardi at Q Studios.
I'm always looking for a certain snap to my images. Some photographers love softer light but I can never totally get away from hard light... But hard light requires a delicate touch, just the right choice of scrim to take a hair of the edge makes all the difference. You can tell by the shadows how they fringe at the edges if you have it right. Then the light seems to shape the face better adding more dimension.
About time I posted some of this amazing new beauty I've been working on. This year has been a Delves beauty explosion. The very talented Paul Innis made this shoot incredible, he has a touch with the brush of a artist. I think we are cut from the same cloth graphically.
